They will for about two weeks if you soak it in water.
I have made a wreath out of cut greens my door %26amp; Id like to make one for indoor, will the greens stay green ?
they will if you spray them with clear coat varnish, and let it dry. before hanging.
Reply:If they are coniferous in origin (pine, etc.) they may stay green for months, but they will dry out, become brittle, and lose needles within a week in a warm (indoor) environment, maybe two or more outside depending on the temperature. Soaked in plain water for at least an hour every couple-few days they will last a couple-few weeks (in cold temperatures, soak once a week and they will last well beyond the holiday season). Soaked in a solution of half glycerin, half water for a week or two they will last for years and still be pliable (the glycerin replaces the water inside the leaves), though the color may darken somewhat.

How long should I leave my Christmas wreath on the door?
There's still snow here and it looks pretty.
How long should I leave my Christmas wreath on the door?
Well, you could always put little loveheart sweets in it and call it a valentine wreath, then add some boiled eggs in time for easter. Leave that lot on all summer and you won't need to add anything else for it to be a halloween wreath!
Reply:Take it down when you put up something on your door for Valentines day. That's kind of the rule of thumb, by the next holiday for sure the previous one is over. There are lots of pretty wreaths for all throughout the year, or you could use the same one all year with different decorations and trim
Reply:I take my Christmas decorations down in the first week of January but if you like it, keep it up!
Reply:As long as you want! Of course, you could get different wreaths for different seasons, and keep a wreath on your door year round.

Will Jimmy Carter travel to Cambodia next to lay a wreath on the grave of Pol Pot?
After all, Mr. Pot did much for the people of Cambodia, giving them much happy work to do in the fields where everybody happily worked together for the common good.

How to hang a wreath on the front door...?

How to hang a wreath on the front door...?
They sell hooked brackets that hang over the top of the door, but they can scratch / gouge the door if it's close-fitting to the frame. They also sell a set of two super-strong magnets, one of which has a hook for the wreath, but they only work thru single-thickness glass.
At my last apartment, I tied two pieces of fishing line (about 2 inches apart) near the top of the wreath, ran them over the top of the door %26amp; down the inside of the door. I was able to hook them over the peephole.

Where can I find really tiny silk flowers to wear in my hair as a simple flower head wreath?
I don't want anything too fancy, just some tiny little silk flowers to wear in my hair for a vintage, summery feminine style. I've seen single-flower hair pins but they're always HUGE and I would rather have small flowers that I can pin around my crown (pin at the sides, rather than having it go all the way around to the back).

Breezy Beach Wear has a few smaller silk flower hair clips, including the north star and the yellow delphinium. Try there!

Does anyone have directions on how to make a wreath out of pine cones?
From experience, go to a craft store and get the green metal round frames, the ones I'm talking about have two circles within each other. Also get some wire used by florists, and wire each pine cone on around the frame. This is your first layer. Now you may add more pine cones, sycamore balls, chestnuts, or whatever you like, but use liquid nails to attach the rest. You should have an excellent wreath upon completion.
Does anyone have directions on how to make a wreath out of pine cones?
go to a crafts store and buy one of those styrofoam rings. then hot-glue the pinecones to the ring; viola! instant wreath.
Reply:Use a straw wreath and start gluing pine cones in a spiral pattern till you have covered the whole wreath, fill in gaps with silk or dried leafs and flowers, you can use acorns twigs, anything out of nature.
you can use a grape vine or twig wreath and glue or wire the pine cones in some pleasing arrangement and add whatever elements that suit the place where its going to hang

Where does the bow go on a wreath, the top or bottom?
You can put it anywhere you want - top, bottom or side - there is no right way. Whatever looks prettiest to you.

Reply:There is no set way for placing a bow on a wreath... You can place it at the top, at the bottom or in the middle... just keep in mind if you place it in the middle, it will look more like a funeral wreath.
If you place the bow at the top, make certain that the bow does not overpower the entire wreath. If you aren't putting any decorations other than the bow on the wreath, you might want to consider using a gauzy see-thru bow so the wreath is not top heavy. Same goes for putting the bow on the bottom... make sure it is not bottom-heavy.
Personally, I prefer the bow at the top with the ribbons hanging down the middle and just touching the bottom of the wreath but it is definitely a personal choice.

How do you make a baby shower wreath?
Instructions for diaper wreath
You will need -
1 wreath base - straw or styrofoam
1 package newborn size diapers
1 pack of dental floss
curling ribbon
Small Baby Items (to decorate)
Tie dental floss completely around the wreath in a circular fashion. Do not cut until the wreath is finished. Place one prefolded diaper (straight from package) against the wreath, cinch it in the middle and wrap the floss cinched area. Next, wrap the floss around the wreath to tie the diaper on. The diaper should now have the top (where the fasteners are) area pointed toward the center of the wreath, and the bottom facing outward. Place another diaper, closely together, facing the opposite direction (bottom inward, top outward) on the wreath. Continue in this manner til the front of the wreath is covered. Tie off floss and cut.
Decorate wreath using curling ribbon, and by tucking the small baby items into the floss and ribbon.

How do you make a x-mas wreath?
I would like to use the limbs from my tree bottom. We got a real tree this year and i want to make a wreath with the limbs and branch we cit off the bottom.
How do you make a x-mas wreath?
Go to a craft shop and get a wire frame. the foam ones will not stand the strain. then use florest wire to layer the branchs and tie them to the frame. when you have gone all the way around, finish with a few little pine cones and a velvet ribbon.
Reply:go to a craft store like Michael's and buy a wire wreath frame. Weave the pine on to it and secure with floral wire. You can get that at craft store too.

Will trimming a bridal wreath shrub stop it from flowering next year?
My flowers on the bridal wreath didn't last long this year, they all disappeared after our first heavy rain. The shrub has been growing very well, but I would like to know if I can trim the shrub to keep it shaped without jeopardizing the chance of getting flowers next year.
Will trimming a bridal wreath shrub stop it from flowering next year?
If you trim it now or in the fall you will be cutting off next year's flower buds (just like in lilacs). Many times I've seen lawn care people do this in the summer. Eventually, normal leafing returns, and the plant has a more pleasing shape, but the cascading blooming stems we hope for next year are gone.
Reply:It needs to be pruned right after it has finished flowering or yes you will be pruning off next springs flowers.
Reply:The only time you should not trim any flowering shrub is while it's flowering. To be kindest to the plant, trimming in the late fall (before the first freeze) would be best. The plant has shut down for the winter and sap is no longer flowing through it's branches. You can also trim in the very early spring, but be prepared for a lot of "bleeding" to occur because the new sap is rising. You should always make sure that you make all cuts straight across the branch. Cutting at an angle will stop the plant from closing off it's veins.
Reply:Spirea prunifolia (Bridalwreath) is a spring bloomer, and like most spring bloomers, it blooms on old wood. The time to prune this whole category of shrub is immediately after blooming. This way the shrub has all summer to produce wood that will make bloom next spring. At this point, you may want to wait until after next spring's flowering to prune.

How do I activate the online presence with the gold wreath given to Power users?
Open the cupboard and take the flask. Then Turn on the microwave with the ratchet.
Turn off the lights and wait for a grue to appear. Then turn on the oil lamp to blind it and open the microwave. Immediately hit the Grue with your WiFi router on the head powerfully to show you are a Power user, and it will then activate your online presence, whenever you have a gold wreath.

Does anyone know where I can find instructions on making a wreath with hydrangeas?
Okay, this is an easy project! I made one a few years ago as a house warming gift for my friend. I used dried blue, violet and pink Hydrangea flower heads and floral wire and one of those $5 grapevine wreaths. I just wired the flower heads to the wreath, used about 20 of them, it was full and beautiful! And my friend loved it!

Does anyone have the Pampered Chef chicken and broccoli croissant wreath recipe?

2 cups cooked chicken, chopped
1 cup broccoli, chopped
1/2 cup red bell pepper, chopped
1 garlic clove, pressed
4 oz. (1cup) sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tsp. all-purpose dill mix
1/4 tsp. salt
2 pkgs. (8oz. each) refrigerated crescent rolls
1 egg white, lightly beaten
2 tbls. slivered almonds
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375F. Chop chicken and broccoli using food chopper; place in 2 qt. batter bowl. Chop bell pepper using 5" utility knife; add to batter bowl. Press garlic over vegetable mixture using garlic press. Shred cheese using cheese grater and add to vegetable mixture; mix gently. Add mayonnaise, dill mix, and salt; mix well using scraper. Unroll 1 package of crescent dough; do not separate. Arrange longest sides of dough across width of 12" x 15" rectangle baking stone. Repeat with remaining package of dough. Using roller, roll dough to seal perforations. On longest sides of baking stone, cut dough into strips 1 1/2 inches apart, 3 inches deep using a pizza cutter (there will be 6 inches in the center for the filling). Spread filling evenly over middle of dough. To braid, lift strips of dough across mixture to meet in center, twisting each strip on turn. Continue alternating strips to form a braid. Tuck ends under to seal at end of braid. Brush egg white over dough using pastry brush. Sprinkle with almonds. Bake 25-28 minutes or until deep golden brown.
Substitute 1 tsp. dried dill weed for The Pampered Chef Pantry All-Purpose Dill Mix, if desired.

Does any one know of a patten for a wreath for a flowergirl to wear on her head?
What I'm looking for is some thing crocheted over wire, with a decoritive edge that I can then glue silk flowers onto.
Does any one know of a patten for a wreath for a flowergirl to wear on her head?
What my sister did for her wedding was took thick wire (old wire clothes hangers) and wrapped them with ribbon. Then we glued flowers and leaves to them and left long ribbons hanging down the back. They looked so good.

How do I make a big bow for a wreath?
I'm not sure I can explain this, but I will try. Take a very long piece of ribbon, your choice of width, but make it compatible with your wreath (not narrow for a large wreath, not real wide for a small wreath). With the right side of the ribbon toward you, holding it in your left hand between your thumb and first finger, drop a length that would equal one strand down. Make a loop towards the left side of your hand (don't make the loop too large, it will droop), now, as you bring the ribbon to the right side of your thumb, twist it a half twist so the right side is facing you and make a loop on the right side of your thumb. Remember to hold tight with your thumb and finger. Now take the ribbon and pass it back under between your thumb and finger to the left side again, twisting to keep the right side of the ribbon toward you. Continue doing this until you have about 5 or 6 loops on each side. Droop a length to make the other hanging strand. Take a piece of craft wire and tightly tie together between your thumb and finger. If you leave your wire long enough, you can run the wire through your wreath and tie it on with it. This takes a little practice, but soon you will be an expert at it. Good luck!

How to hang a "wreath bird feeder" to keep squirrels off?
Invest in a "squirrel baffle". These can be made at home with a little ingenuity using a sheet of aluminum or the top cut from a gallon milk jug, or even using a large funnel (like you get from the hardware store), but it's easier to buy one.
How to hang a "wreath bird feeder" to keep squirrels off?
Bird Feeders are great and my kids love to see the same birds return every year. Just make sure you don't have a problem with mice/rats because according to my friend, they enjoy the fallen seeds.
Have fun !

Reply:My mom is Idaho's equivalant to Martha Stewart and she showed me some tricks anyone can master. I'm TERRIBLE with bows so she instructed me to pick ribbon that has a really fine wire to make it super easy to work with (I get mine at the dollar store). then just work it into loops holding it between your thumb and forefinger. You can make it as large or small as you want but 5 loops usually make a nice full bow. Take a bread tie or craft wire to secure the loops, then fluff and arrange your bow until it looks the way you want. If you can't hold the loops you and put a dot of hot glue as you go. FYI, don't waste your money on the "bow makers" you see in the craft stores.

Reply:yes i would buy some kinda greenery. you can sometimes buy them in shaped heart. then you buy or pick out flowers you want ot put on them you can buy this stuff from craft store little wires to use to ut them on with. its fun. but it can be expensive depending how much workyou put inot it. sometimes you can go to places where they have big sales and buy up stuff ot make that or do. its easier to watch sales and buy them but the heart shapped ones are around you have to look you could do it with coat hanger. shape it and go. buy your own greens and stuff. but you have ot make it full.
Reply:You can buy soft floral foam hearts for wreaths. They are usually green. If you are wanting to do a live wreath this would be good because it holds water. If you are doing it with silk flowers you can also get it in regular white foam. If you are doing a silk arrangement buy some ribbon to wrap the base in. Make sure to buy enough flowers and greenery to hide the base of it also.
Reply:People here have given you some good answers. One person's instructions had one really serious error that I feel I must point out, so you don't do it. If your wreath will be using an oasis, you must THOROUGHLY soak it in warm water with a floral preservative for at least a 1/2 hour. It may appear to be whetted all the way through, and still be dry in the middle. Once you insert your flower stems, they may end up in this still dry section of the foam. This, of course, will hasten their demise. If you are going to use silk or dry flowers, get blocks of Sahara floral foam at a florist (it's brown). It is much sturdier than what you find in a craft store.
Reply:I hope these links for heart shaped wreaths will help you!
Reply:go to your local florist and ask for an oasis heart, this is made from a sponge like foam which holds all your flowers in place and is the key to making a finished product you are happy with. then buy your flowers and give them a good drink of warm water.
run the foam under the tap and pour off exess water and after your flowers have had a good drink for an hour cut the stems to a couple of inches and push them into the foam until the design pleases you...

How to make a floral hair wreath? Please help!?
I am making a beautiful fairy costume for my little one, and really would like to make a nice wreath for her hair as well, but am not sure what to use for the base of it...has anyone made one for a costume or wedding or anything? Can someone help me with some ideas or quick instructions? THANKS!
How to make a floral hair wreath? Please help!?
If you have any fabric left over from her dress, about 2-3 inches wide and long enough to fit around her head, you can make a matching circlet. Sew the fabric into a long tube. Turn it inside out and fill it with stuffing. Sew extra long ribbons onto the ends of the tube and tie the ends together to form a circlet to fit her head comfortably. Allow the ribbons to hang down the backside. Wrap ribbons, beads, costume jewelry (chains etc) or lace around the circlet to decorate it.
I've also used a grapevine wreath purchased at a craft store to make a crown. They come in all sizes so you would choose one that fits the head of your daughter.
Leave it natural or spray paint it the color you want. Weave ribbon and flowers around the crown etc.
My daughter is 14 and feels much too old to let me do something like this for her. I miss those days....thanks for letting me share ideas!
Reply:I use floral wire and shape it into a halo. Then I take silk flowers on a short stem and hold them onto the wire and wrap with floral tape. After I have secured the 1st flower, I lay the 2nd flower on top of the stem, just below the 1st flower, and wrap it onto the halo.
When you have completed the halo with the flowers, then take long curing ribbons and streamers and attach them to the halo where the flowers ended.

How do you hang a prelit wreath on a door that opens and shuts?
If your lucky and it is a steel door you can buy strong enough magnets to hang stuff. Lee Valley Tools have a great assortment
How do you hang a prelit wreath on a door that opens and shuts?
You don't, unless it is battery operated. Hang it next to the door or inside .
Reply:They make hangers that go on the top of the door. These will still allow the door to open and closed.

Does anyone know how to hang a heavy wreath on a house with vinyl siding??? Please Help!!!?
I just bought a good sized wreath that i want to hang right on my house but I don't know what to hang it with I have already tried those sticky hooks but it is to heavy. Oh yeah and the wreath will be hung pretty high on the house.
Does anyone know how to hang a heavy wreath on a house with vinyl siding??? Please Help!!!?
Maybe you can install some hooks on the underside of the eaves equidistant from the location for the wreath and one down below the location of the wreath (maybe even a stake in the ground). Tie the wreath to the two hooks above with wire and adjust to the spot and height you want. Run another length of wire to the hook below to keep it in place. You can leave the hooks in place for use year after year. I've done this before and it always seemed better to me than drilling through siding.
Good luck.
Reply:My husband installed siding before he retired.
If your going to hang it pretty high you would be better off by screwing a screw into the siding to the wood beneath. Make sure the screw is long enough though and is rust proof. Caulk around the screw to keep it from leaking and also make sure the caulk is flexible because vinyl siding expands and contracts in the weather.
Just leave the screw there so that it will be there for next year or so you can hang other things in the years to come.
Also you can sometimes get the same color caulk as the siding, if not just go with clear.
Know one will ever know its there but you!
Merry Christmas!

I have a finch nest in my wreath on my front door. How do I go about moving it? Or should I just leave it??
If there aren't any eggs, go ahead and remove it. Otherwise just wait until the eggs hatch and the young ones have left. If the nest is disturbed , the parents will abandon it.

I,ve been told if a bird flies IN your house ~death is near~Its cute but I,d remove it..I,m not Really superstitious but I didn,t like hearing that...!
Reply:bang a nail in the siding on the house right beside the door and hang the wreath there... momma will still find it, but the babies and eggs won't be in danger from the door opening and closing too hard.... it's so interesting to watch the babies grow.... yeah, it's a mess, but you're a good egg if you let them finish growing there.....
Reply:leave it. if the nest it moved the mother will be furious and the babies or eggs will be dead. by early summer they should have left
Reply:lucky you - definately leave it till the birds have left!
Reply:I hope they haven't laid eggs in it yet. Probably if you are using the door the birds will decide they made a mistake and build elsewhere. Sometimes they start nests in the craziest places.
Reply:I would just leave it until the eggs have hatched and they are gone. If you disturb the nest, the eggs will be abandoned.

It was between the radiator and the plastic front grill.
They fledged just fine.

Did you see that the Libertarians sent the Republican party a funeral wreath over McCain's assumption of lead?
In sympathy for the death of Republican ideals of limited government, etc. etc.?
What do you think?

Did you see that the Libertarians sent the Republican party a funeral wreath over McCain's assumption of lead?
Love it. Ron Paul is the only true conservative and the only Republican I ever stood behind or politician for that matter. Excellent article and so true.
Reply:I wish more were a throw back Dar. I really do. Report It
Reply:well, the wreath is quite appropriate, considering who mccain is and how little he did for the people that he represented in AZ, namely, nothing to prevent illegal aliens from coming here and stealing their jobs at reduced pay and with no taxes paid to the government that pays for all the services that they get for free. under only this circumstance, can you say that mccain isn't for big government, bigger and bigger government and higher taxes, in order not to do anything to help the common wo/man of our country, however, to allow and condone an amnesty package that he worked on for a year with the sacred liberal, teddy kennedy?
mccain and feingold wrote an act that limits free speech. why would a candidate for president of the united states back--no, actually, write--anything that removes our constitutional rights, any of them? i wonder what his card game really is.
mccain is a hawk for more war. wouldn't that create higher taxes? don't we need big government and higher income taxes to support a war that possibly could be avoided? sure, i have absolutely nothing against very, very diligent snooping over in the middle east as well as guarding our country against any more terrorist attacks in any way possible, but more war? why? because iran blew off a missile the other day? because iran is in bed with north korea? because we do know that iran lies to us about what purpose they have for uranium enrichment? but they have not made an act of war against us--so, we must, absolutely must, place more intelligence in the middle east. but is it time for more war and the cost to us? we are already deeply in the red and owe tons of dough to china, a communist country! and china talks of investing here!
why should we pay income taxes at all? nothing in the constitution says we should. why does the common wo/man who is just struggling to get by pay income taxes? a fair tax based on consumption is far more fair, meaning, if you choose to purchase a lotus instead of a ford, you will pay more in taxes. isn't it true that most wealthy people get away with greater tax breaks, therefore, they do not pay their fair share into the ever-widening and ever-more-hungry mouth of the government? i don't figure that working stiffs are really able, considering the sad state of affairs of our economy, to absorb the cost of running an ever-larger government.
rodham clinton tells us that if we do not agree to her national health plan that she will see to it that wages are garnished! and why is it that citizens of countries where there is national health care come HERE for medical treatment? would they, with a national health care system whereby the doctors have no incentive to be the best doctors because their work will be limited by directives set out by the national health care committee, yet another useless committee of highly-paid fools?
i think the only way to go is liberterian. the rest of them, mccain included, talk, and that's about it. they do not DO anything to change the way this country IS, to make it very strong again, to make it a country of self-manufactured products that americans trust and buy instead of their jobs getting OUTSOURCED all the way, doesn't everyone realize it, to china?
the only genuine candidate that is very consistent is an MD, ron paul. why is he not for a nationalized health care plan? why would he eliminate the income tax? could it be that we do not need to pay it? why does he hand part of his paid (by taxpayers, by us) office expenses back to the treasury every month? why did ron paul never, ever, in all the time he served in congress, vote for any bill that would chip away at the greatest rights that any people in the entire world have, those of the constitution? why would a doctor say that the 2nd amendment, the right to bear arms, is important to our own safety if he was not a patriot? why is ron paul the right man to vote for? because he is not a phony, he doesn't plan to make the federal government one iota bigger, but he plans to make it smaller, and he is behind, 100%, our own people making their own living using their own wits and labor. he's the one that will see to it that our borders are secure, not only against illegal aliens that bring al queda members over the border down south, but against TERRORISTS? how come so many voters today have forgotten 9-11??? what, are they nuts? do you know what disasters can result if we are not ever leary of terrorism? and maybe i am a mean person, but even this old hippie flower power, peace and love woman doesn't care if terrorists are tortured in guantanamo--it is the only way to get information out of people of that ilk. they are bent on destroying us, the "infidel."
i am so tired of the status quo. what it will do, if it continues, will make this country so much harder for our own people to live in. i KNOW that an even tougher atmosphere is coming, an even harder life, and i, for one, am happy i won't be alive long enough for it to affect me very much. but you young voters, what the heck are you thinking?
vote ron paul. send him money. although he is a stated republican, actually, his style is liberaterian. let us have liberty, let us live.
look: before you place your vote, at least go to this website and listen to this genuine, sincere person that isn't a politician, a liar: www.ronpaul.com. don't assume he has no chance. almost all the soldiers over in iraq will vote for him. why?
forget the politicians, forget those that talk and don't do, or those that lie, or those that want to please them all, or those that are figureheads. forget the status quo. let's take the one slender chance we have to rebuild our country into one of strength and pride.
vote ron paul!

Slightly off topic... have you seen that video on google called zeitgeist?
some interesting stuff, particularly about the Federal Reserve and banking in this country...
recommend keeping an open mind, for those who do see it.
Reply:It's true. The Republican party has lost its true values. Whatever happened to low taxes, smaller government, and less wars? All that has changed, and now that's why many had changed parties.
Reply:Let's face it Bush is a 'closet democrat", and as Jerry and george say "not that there's anything wrong with that'. I wonder who will be first as the worst economical pres him or Carter. atleast with carter you could get real high cd rates, heck it's fallen to 3 % now, but a fellow on on one of my question mention he is getting 13% in Belarus and it's guaranteed. go figure. Oh yea "morph time". Yo got to have those votes. Although i feel sorry for obama as he worked so hard to show how normal the democrats where and then the freak show about clements today.

mccain and feingold wrote an act that limits free speech. why would a candidate for president of the united states back--no, actually, write--anything that removes our constitutional rights, any of them? i wonder what his card game really is.
mccain is a hawk for more war. wouldn't that create higher taxes? don't we need big government and higher income taxes to support a war that possibly could be avoided? sure, i have absolutely nothing against very, very diligent snooping over in the middle east as well as guarding our country against any more terrorist attacks in any way possible, but more war? why? because iran blew off a missile the other day? because iran is in bed with north korea? because we do know that iran lies to us about what purpose they have for uranium enrichment? but they have not made an act of war against us--so, we must, absolutely must, place more intelligence in the middle east. but is it time for more war and the cost to us? we are already deeply in the red and owe tons of dough to china, a communist country! and china talks of investing here!
why should we pay income taxes at all? nothing in the constitution says we should. why does the common wo/man who is just struggling to get by pay income taxes? a fair tax based on consumption is far more fair, meaning, if you choose to purchase a lotus instead of a ford, you will pay more in taxes. isn't it true that most wealthy people get away with greater tax breaks, therefore, they do not pay their fair share into the ever-widening and ever-more-hungry mouth of the government? i don't figure that working stiffs are really able, considering the sad state of affairs of our economy, to absorb the cost of running an ever-larger government.
rodham clinton tells us that if we do not agree to her national health plan that she will see to it that wages are garnished! and why is it that citizens of countries where there is national health care come HERE for medical treatment? would they, with a national health care system whereby the doctors have no incentive to be the best doctors because their work will be limited by directives set out by the national health care committee, yet another useless committee of highly-paid fools?
i think the only way to go is liberterian. the rest of them, mccain included, talk, and that's about it. they do not DO anything to change the way this country IS, to make it very strong again, to make it a country of self-manufactured products that americans trust and buy instead of their jobs getting OUTSOURCED all the way, doesn't everyone realize it, to china?
the only genuine candidate that is very consistent is an MD, ron paul. why is he not for a nationalized health care plan? why would he eliminate the income tax? could it be that we do not need to pay it? why does he hand part of his paid (by taxpayers, by us) office expenses back to the treasury every month? why did ron paul never, ever, in all the time he served in congress, vote for any bill that would chip away at the greatest rights that any people in the entire world have, those of the constitution? why would a doctor say that the 2nd amendment, the right to bear arms, is important to our own safety if he was not a patriot? why is ron paul the right man to vote for? because he is not a phony, he doesn't plan to make the federal government one iota bigger, but he plans to make it smaller, and he is behind, 100%, our own people making their own living using their own wits and labor. he's the one that will see to it that our borders are secure, not only against illegal aliens that bring al queda members over the border down south, but against TERRORISTS? how come so many voters today have forgotten 9-11??? what, are they nuts? do you know what disasters can result if we are not ever leary of terrorism? and maybe i am a mean person, but even this old hippie flower power, peace and love woman doesn't care if terrorists are tortured in guantanamo--it is the only way to get information out of people of that ilk. they are bent on destroying us, the "infidel."
i am so tired of the status quo. what it will do, if it continues, will make this country so much harder for our own people to live in. i KNOW that an even tougher atmosphere is coming, an even harder life, and i, for one, am happy i won't be alive long enough for it to affect me very much. but you young voters, what the heck are you thinking?
vote ron paul. send him money. although he is a stated republican, actually, his style is liberaterian. let us have liberty, let us live.
look: before you place your vote, at least go to this website and listen to this genuine, sincere person that isn't a politician, a liar: www.ronpaul.com. don't assume he has no chance. almost all the soldiers over in iraq will vote for him. why?
forget the politicians, forget those that talk and don't do, or those that lie, or those that want to please them all, or those that are figureheads. forget the status quo. let's take the one slender chance we have to rebuild our country into one of strength and pride.
vote ron paul!

What great ideas you have received. Depending on the closeness of your relationship to the parents to be, what about some homemade or computer made coupons for babysitting, treating the new Mom to a lunch out, or making a dinner and bringing it to their home. The first few weeks are difficult and any assistance with regular daily routines are greatly appreciated. When I was going Thur chemo therapy a family member sent me a box filled with little treasures. The instructions stated that when I was feeling down or blue take out one thing from the box. Inside some of the things were jokes, small bottles of bubble bath, scented soaps, candle, money with a note attached to buy a women's magazine that I liked but wouldn't ordinarily buy. This was a great booster during that difficult time. Something that I do is have a gift for the Mom. Maybe bath salts, a candle, bubble bath, body lotion etc. For a different wedding shower, baby gift I made a cake out of bath towels, hand towels, and face cloths and other bathroom accessories. It was well received. Have fun....
Reply:big bright veggie and fruit magnets for the fridge. cassette of italian dinner music.
small picture frame, for that photo you know they're going to take of that baby getting all messy w/ some food item.
Reply:Try making 'flowers' out of baby washcloths, adding little letter blocks, and baby booties. Sounds adorable!
Reply:you can use wash cloth, burp cloth, sippy cup.
another theme could be baby toys-
Gyms + Play Mats
Rattles + Teethers
Stacking + Sorting
Building + Play Sets
Reply:Other feeder items might be a food mill, some stacking storage cups, wash cloths rolled into flower shapes, various types of bibs (most bibs that people get at baby showers are drool bibs... once they start to self feed or be fed a mom is wanting a kangaroo bib that has a pouch to catch dropping food, a towel bib that fits closer at the neck, etc...) I'd also suggest a feeder bottle and a sippy cup or nuby.
As for other themes, try:
bath time fun with washcloths, soaps, rubber duckies or frogs, hooded towels, and pajamas.
A collection of firsts with scrapbooking supplies for things like first tooth, first step, first shoe strings... things that mom can put into the baby book or scrapbook.
Baby Diva/Little man wreath with clothes and accessories appropriate for that special day when mom and dad takes them out for something special like photos.
bedtime with soothing music tape, lovey, mittens so they don't scratch themselves while sleeping, non-aerosol lavender room spray, ...
Reply:You could put a teeth-er on the wreath, something for the baby to chew on while waiting to be fed. You could even look for those mesh strainer feeders that the baby can suck on but won't get choked on the food because of the mesh. An infant shoe wreath might be cute, different shoes and colorful socks. You could stuff the socks with tissue for a more 3D look. Your wreath ideas sound cute!
Reply:maybe some small jars of baby food, or toddler crackers, maybe put some of the dry cereal in lil lace pockets and attatch them, what your doing sounds really cute.. good luck.. :)

How do you like the way Bush dissed the "Laying of the Wreath" ceremony yesterday?
I guess he had more important things to do, like pitching another war to his friends in Waco, Texas.
How do you like the way Bush dissed the "Laying of the Wreath" ceremony yesterday?
In a time when a country is at war it is of greater importance that the president show his support by attending veterans day ceremonies.
It is a slap in the face to both those who have fought hard and died in the name of the nation, and those who continue to put their lives on the line in the name of America.
Reply:Yes, that is sad, but true. The interesting part was seeing how good Cheney is at holding his hand over his heart. I mean, it was really glued there.
Of course Bush is busy trying to line up allies for the war on Iran. It's urgent to him, not because Iran is an imminent threat, but because his term of office is almost up.

How can I hang the Christmas wreath (about 1kg weight ) on the PVC front door?
Try using a wreath hanger that can be placed right over the door itself and no attachment is necessary. This can be used over and over again! God Luck!!!
How can I hang the Christmas wreath (about 1kg weight ) on the PVC front door?
3M now makes hangers that can be removed after use with no damage to the surfaces. They are available in different weight types.
Reply:We have a pretty huge wreath on our front door right now and we use the wreath hanger. The top part that goes over the door is thin enough that it pretty much fits on any door. We also bought it at Walmart. Good luck!
Reply:The over the door hanger might work, depending on how much room there is on the top of the door.
But you could try those new hooks by 3m that you attach and they pull off when you're done with them and leave no residue...they seem to hold a good amount of weight.
Reply:The wreath hangers people are talking about can be found at places like Walmart. Here's a photo so you will know what to look for.

Can you put a nail in a solid fiberglass front door? I'd like to hang a wreath.?
Would screws be better? Or do I have to use one of those stick-on 3M thingies?
Can you put a nail in a solid fiberglass front door? I'd like to hang a wreath.?
You can buy wreath hangers that fit over the door. I would not put anything on the fiberglass.
Here's a link to show you what they look like. And, these are the expensive kind. No need to spend that much, you can find them at places like Walmart at great prices.

Reply:Use a sticky thingy, you'll spoil the door otherwise.
Reply:Please do not.
Try using double sided tape or those removeable tapes.
Check it out at local hardware stores.
Reply:Not advisable. Why don't you just use a removable adhesive hook?
Reply:The 3-M Command removable hooks work well. They will not harm the finish on your door and will not interfere with your door closing as some over-the-door wreath hangers will.
Reply:Do not pull a nail in your fiberglas door. You can purchase special wreath hooks that go over the top of the door with a hook on the front for your wreath. This is the only way I hang anything on the front door. You can purchase them at any store. I got mine at Target, but they are sold everywhere.
Reply:Do not nail into a fiberglass door it would compromise the integrity of the door and if it is a new door would void any warranty. Use some sort of 3M tape like you were asking about.

I want something to hang on my outside door. Where can I get it from.
What decoration can I put on my door now that the wreath is down.?
Valentine's Day is coming.
But, in the meantime, something with a winter theme - like a grapevine wreath with snowmen and tiny mittens and holly.
As far as where to get something - I make my own wreaths. (JoAnn's and Michaels LOVE to see me coming!!)
You're right, we're sort of in a void as far as decorating right now. I still have my "jingle" bells on my door.

Do neocons think laying a wreath at the WTC site is a form of terrorism?
What possible reason could they have for not allowing Mahmoud Ahmedinijad to pay his respects?
Are they afraid it will ruin their campaign of fear and lies about Iran?

It's really sad, because obviously a lot of Muslims live in this country and yet they are being implicated as terrorist sympathizers. That's why they say he can't do it. Despite the fact that there might very well have been many Muslims killed in the attack.

Wreath laying ceremony in Arlington National Cemetery?
I'm wrtiting an essay to be in the wreath laying ceremony in washington. One thing i have to write about in my essay is what the ceremony means to me. I have never ben to or seen the ceremony, can you plz describe it for me? Also, what is the significance of it?
Wreath laying ceremony in Arlington National Cemetery?
The Tomb of the Unknowns (there is no official title) recognizes the unknown dead from four wars, the first was WW !, and the sarcophagus holds those remains. On the marble surface immediately before the tomb are three marble memorial slabs, one each for dead from WW II, Korea, and Vietnam.
There are formal state ceremonies when the President or his representative lays a wreath at Memorial Day and Veteran's Day. Visiting heads of foreign state governments sometimes lay wreath as well.
By law all US citizens may participate in a ceremonial wreath laying, at the Tomb or at any other grave site in Arlington.
The site below has much information and pictures.

The grave marker for those who died but could never be recovered/ or those whose remains could never be identified.
It is guarded at all times by a military detail, To stand guard and keep memory of those who gave their life defending the Nation, and especially those who could never be returned to their families.
While there are many National Cemeteries, Arlington has the Signifcances of it being right outside Washington DC, It is in Arlington on Land that had belong to Robert E. Lee, The General of the South's Army of Virginia in the Civil War.
It Has the Remains of Many soldiers, including a few Presidents, and Generals.
But the Tomb of the Unknowns is the Honored, And is protected by the Third United States Infantry 'The Old Guard',
The Guards is Changed through out the day, in a very formal ceremony.
April 1 to September 30: The guard is changed every thirty minutes.
October 1 to March 31: The guard is changed every hour, on the hour
While the whole grounds are sacred grounds, the Tomb of the Unknowns most so, it is a symbol for the Whole Nation to mourn those lost serving the nation, but mostly that for those that could never be returned to their families to properly bury and moun, the Nation as a whole should mourn and remember.

Is it a fire hazard if you have a gas log set for your fireplace and there is a dry wreath hanging above the?
mantle of the fireplace. it looks like the pilot light is buried pretty well under the logs, if something fell in could it catch fire?
also, is it risky to have something dry too close to the fireplace? could a pilot light ever shoot a spark?
Is it a fire hazard if you have a gas log set for your fireplace and there is a dry wreath hanging above the?
gas is volatile....anything that you have hanging over a pilot could be a hazard....if it falls into the fireplace you could be safe if it stays there but if it falls out then you have trouble...i wouldnt suggest hanging anything on the mantle unless you are there to keep an eye on things...if it is putting off heat then yes there is potential for something to heat to the point that it ignites although the distance from your mantle to the flame should be far enough... its better to be safe than sorry - i just wouldnt do it
Reply:I wouldn't leave it un attended as for any fireplace

Any idea how to shape a grapevine wreath that has already been shaped and dried into a circle shape?
I wasn't sure what would happen if I tried to soak it, then start to reshape it. Is there any possibility that this would work?
Any idea how to shape a grapevine wreath that has already been shaped and dried into a circle shape?
put it in a pan or tub of warm water and let it soak until it becomes more pliable. Then shape it with you hands, using rope or bungee cords to hold the new shape. Dry....And if you can, lay it out in the hot sun to dry.
I have done this with smushed baskets.
Reply:you could try warm to hot water or steam to soften it up, it works on birch bark so give it a try
Reply:Yes soaking it will loosen it up allowing you to reshape it.. It probably won't look as good as the original shape it was dried in, but it will work.
Reply:soak the wreath underwater till it softens up:)
Reply:If it hasn't been sealed with acrylic or something, you can soak it in water and attempt to re-form it. If it had been sealed, it's not going to be affected.
You may be able to completely un-do and re-do the item. It's not a matter of re-shaping the formed item. You'll need to untwist or unbraid the material and completely re-do it while it's still pliable.
Use clean/sterile water. You won't want to risk mold or mildew. Allow the item to re-dry in sunshine in a well-ventilated area.

check out Michaels Arts and Crafts. They have a lot of in store teaching sessions on just how to do things like this. You can find a store near you online and check out their class schedule, as well as just learn online at: http://www.michaels.com/art/online/displ...
Good luck
Reply:buying wire and floral tape are your next steps. You can go to a Michael's or JoAnn Fabrics for how-to books. If you wanted to buy a grapevine wreath you could decorate it with the dried flowers and a glue gun. It depends on how involved you want it to be. I know the the closer the wedding approaches the more hectic your life will be.

Why was the wreath chosen as the symbol to represent combat?
I am one of the many soldiers who get to wear the Combat Infantrymans Badge or CIB. But why was the wreat chosen to surround the badge like it also does in the Combat Medical Badge and the Combat Action Badge.
Why was the wreath chosen as the symbol to represent combat?
It comes from the Greeks and Romans.
Laural wreaths and Garlands were draped over a soldier returning from war. It was a sign of victory and life, It was also a trophy or reward.
Generals would wear a Laural wreath or would have a slave standing behind him holding one over his head like a halo during a victory procession.
The actual history of the wreath it's self probably has some Pagan symbolism but I doubt any one could hammer down exactly what it is.
Roman Legions often had the wreath included in their standards, it represented the fact their unit had seen war.
Much like the Eagle or the Lion it became a part of western military traditions. After the Romans you will see similar symbolism crop up from time to time. double headed eagles, bunches of arrows, crossed swords, Chevrons and the wreath can all be traced back to Roman traditions and history.
Reply:SYMBOLISM: The bar is blue, the color associated with the Infantry branch. The musket is adapted from the Infantry insignia of branch and represents the first official U.S. shoulder arm, the 1795 model Springfield Arsenal musket. It was adopted as the official Infantry branch insignia in 1924. The oak symbolizes steadfastness, strength and loyalty.

A bird built a nest in the wreath on my front door that is visable through the glass?
I don't use the door, so it's really no big suprise that a bird would build there.
This weekened I noticed one small, pale blue egg. Today I noticed one larger tan and brown speckled egg had been added. Why are the eggs so different?
I haven't seen either parent since this weekend. Why aren't they incubating?
A bird built a nest in the wreath on my front door that is visable through the glass?
Your are witnessing nest parasitism and the response.
The first blue egg belonged to the nesting birds. The speckled egg was from a cowbird. The cowbirds are nest parasites. They do not build their own nest, but rather lay their eggs in the nests of other species, and then let the host species raise their young.
As a response it has been found the host species will sometimes push out the cowbird egg or abandon the nest and start over. These responses are found with more experienced birds. Those nesting for the first time or those who have not raised a cowbird before are more susceptible.
Reply:The bigger egg was probably laid by a bird of another species. Some species, such as Brown-headed Cowbirds and Cuckoos, do not make their own nests. They lay their eggs in the nests of other birds, who then hatch these eggs with their own and raise the baby as their own. Often, since the intruder's egg will hatch first, and the baby is bigger, it will get all the food and the other babies will starve, or it will push the other babies out of the nest.
Reply:Sounds like two different types of birds laid their eggs there. Perhaps the second bird chased the first smaller bird from the nest and took it over. I have seen that happen. Also when birds lay and sit on more than one egg they don't start sitting (nesting) until the last egg is layed. With small birds like you are talking about they will usually sit on two or three eggs. Larger birds like chickens and geese will sit on eight or more eggs.
Just keep an eye on the eggs but do not touch or disturb them. If the birds do not return in a week then you better dispose of the eggs before they become rotten .
Reply:There are some birds that lay their eggs in other bird's nests and leave them for the others to raise. I can't be sure that this is one of those instances but it seems more likely than that mama bird was fooling around.
I hope the parents come back soon.

Does any one know how to make Palua Dean's Chocolate Walnut Wreath?
I saw her make it on tv and she said that it was on her website but I cant find it anywhere. Hopefully someone out here knows!
Does any one know how to make Palua Dean's Chocolate Walnut Wreath?
Five-Minute Fudge Wreath
1 (12-ounce) bag semisweet chocolate morsels
9 ounces (3/4 of a 12-ounce bag) butterscotch morsels
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (8-ounce) can walnut halves
1/2 cup (a couple of handfuls) currants
8-inch cake pan, lightly greased with softened butter
Candied cherries, red and green, for garnish, optional
Place a heavy pot on the stove and preheat it over low heat. Add chips and milk and stir until chips are melted and milk combined. Save the empty condensed milk can. Stir in vanilla and remove fudge from heat. Add nuts and currants and stir in immediately.
Cover empty condensed milk can with plastic food wrap and center it in the greased cake pan. Spoon fudge into pan around can, making sure to recenter can if it drifts.
The fudge will set up almost immediately. Garnish can only be added in the first minute or 2 the fudge is in the pan, so work quickly. Decorate your wreath with "holly" made from cut candied red and green cherries. A wreath left plain can be garnished with a pretty fabric bow when serving. Chill covered in the refrigerator and slice fudge very thin when ready to serve, a little goes a long way.
PAULA DEAN'S CHOCOLATE WALNUT WREATH
INGREDIENTS
12 ounce package milk chocolate chips
1 cup butterscotch chips
14 ounce can Eaglebrand sweetened condensed milk, (save the can)
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
8 ounce can walnuts, plus more for topping
candied red and green cherries
to decorate top (like holly)
softened butter to grease an 8 inch round metal cake pan
Grease an 8-inch round metal cake pan with softened butter. Pour the chocolate and butterscotch chips, condensed milk and vanilla into a medium saucepan. Put the pan on the stove, turn the heat to low and stir.
Cover the empty condensed milk can with plastic wrap and place it in the center of the round cake pan.
Stir the chips and milk until they melt together, about 3 minutes. Stir in nuts. Scoop the fudge into the cake pan all around the plastic-covered can in the center to form a wreath or ring shape. Let it be all bumpy on top. Keep pushing the can back to the center if the fudge moves it away from there. Cut the red cherries in half with scissors and the green cherries into quarters. Use the green pieces to make leaves and the red to make holly berries. Decorate the fudge with several groups of holly berry sprigs made from the cherries and garnish with walnuts between the sprigs.
Put the fudge in the fridge and chill until firm. Waiting for it to set up takes about 40 minutes.
Take the fudge out of the refrigerator and let it set for about 5 minutes. Remove the can from the center. Place a large serving plate over the top of the cake pan and invert the fudge pan. The fudge will fall out onto the plate when it reaches room temperature. Cut the fudge into thin slices to serve.
To give the wreath as a gift; Place wreath on a decorative tray plate and wrap in cellophane and secure with a bow or ornament.
Alternate options:
White chocolate chips can be substituted for the milk chocolate chips.
Almonds, Pecans, Pistachio nuts or Peanuts

Stir the chips and milk until they melt together, about 3 minutes. Stir in nuts and raisins.
Remove the can from the center, then loosen the sides and bottom of the fudge with a spatula. Cut the fudge into thin slices to serve.
