I wasn't sure what would happen if I tried to soak it, then start to reshape it. Is there any possibility that this would work?
Any idea how to shape a grapevine wreath that has already been shaped and dried into a circle shape?
put it in a pan or tub of warm water and let it soak until it becomes more pliable. Then shape it with you hands, using rope or bungee cords to hold the new shape. Dry....And if you can, lay it out in the hot sun to dry.
I have done this with smushed baskets.
Reply:you could try warm to hot water or steam to soften it up, it works on birch bark so give it a try
Reply:Yes soaking it will loosen it up allowing you to reshape it.. It probably won't look as good as the original shape it was dried in, but it will work.
Reply:soak the wreath underwater till it softens up:)
Reply:If it hasn't been sealed with acrylic or something, you can soak it in water and attempt to re-form it. If it had been sealed, it's not going to be affected.
You may be able to completely un-do and re-do the item. It's not a matter of re-shaping the formed item. You'll need to untwist or unbraid the material and completely re-do it while it's still pliable.
Use clean/sterile water. You won't want to risk mold or mildew. Allow the item to re-dry in sunshine in a well-ventilated area.
