How do I make a wreath using freshly cut bittersweet? Must it 1st be treated with shellac? Does it need a base

When making a bittersweet wreath, must I begin by using a grapevine wreath or some other kind of sturdier base? What is the best way to preserve these natural wreaths? Where can I find craft ideas to make use of these beautiful vines? Is it legal to sell anything made with bittersweet in the state of PA, it is unlawful in NC due to the disgarding and spreading of seed from the wreaths, et al due to the damage caused to the indigenous trees they "latch" onto. What are the best websites relating to making crafts with all natural materials?

I think if you want a "rustic" look, you can just twine bittersweet vines into a circle by themselves. For a more polished look, see Martha Stewart's instructions at the link listed.
