Where can I find a Harvest wreath?

Does anyone know a website where I could pick out a nice Harvest Wreath?

Where can I find a Harvest wreath?
I made the G/F one out of grape vines, just pulled off the leaves %26amp; rolled up a few strands, then take a single piece %26amp; wraped it around it a few times. When it dryed she stuck dryed sunflowers %26amp; crap, I mean craft stuff all over it.
Reply:Have you tried petals.com
Reply:Any Fabric stores in your area will have some items in that are geared toward Holiday decorations. I mean even Walmart has an area that has Holiday decorations department .Any dept. store that has a fabric center should have this info.
Reply:U can try Wal-Green or CVS. Making them is more personal and u can exactly what u want.
Reply:You could try Wal-Mart.com or flowers.com. But it would be easier and cost less to make one yourself. I make a different one for every seaon and holiday. Just go to the nearest store and but whatever you would like on it. But doing it yourself, you can make exactly what you want.
Reply:Hobby Lobby has lots, also at Walmart
Reply:MAKE YOUR OWN!!!!!! IT'S EASY!!!!!! Go to the craft store and pick out what YOU would like on it. You can also pick-up a cold glue gun when you're there. The staff will help you with everything you'll need. You can do it for half the price and NO ONE will have the same one. When someone ask you where you got it,you can proudly say I MADE IT! You can impress your friends.

I would like to know how to make a wreath out of wine corks?

I have seen two styles of wine cork wreaths: the first the corks are laying on their sides and the second the cork are vertical. I like the second with the corks standing upright. I know that the base is a straw wreath form, how would you attatch the corks the the form?

I would like to know how to make a wreath out of wine corks?
one set of instructions I found call for just using toothpicks to hold the corks to the wreath, the other calls for using liberal amounts of hot glue to do the job. I would probably be tempted to use the toothpicks with a dab of glue (like E6000 or hot glue. wood glue might work too) at each end.
Reply:Glue might be the obvious answer but over time, the cork will probably begin to separate from the glue.

You might try very fine wire around the cork and the poked into the straw wreath. Or use a grapevine wreath instead.

I've done a wreath like this, used artificial grapes and silk wisteria (Hobby Lobby), used the corks as accents. It was very cute - gave it away as a gift.

Just make sure you pick out the corks that have red-wine stains, they will detract from the overall appearance.

Also you can use a Dremel hand drill to "sand" one side to make it flat, easier to place on the wreath...
Reply:It would take a huge amount of corks to fill an entire wreath. Here is what I would do First gather supplies; strips of plastic bags (black would be best ),fern pins, small bunches of artificial red %26amp; green grapes,ROUND toothpicks, thick tacky glue , hot glue and 16 or 18ga. wire. Cover the straw wreath with the plastic strips by wrapping around and around to protect the surface it will hang on. Lay the wreath down on a flat surface.Attach small groups of the grapes (mixing the colors ) around the outside %26amp; the inside of the wreath using the fern pins that you dipped the ends into the tacky glue. Use the hot glue to secure the grapes in several places for more security. This should leave a space a couple inches wide down the middle / top surface of the ring. This is where to attach your corks.Dip one end of the toothpick in the tacky glue.Insert in the cork. Dip other end in the glue and insert the cork in the empty spacein in the wreath.Note: fern pins are available in the floral section of any large craft store. The 18ga. wire is to hang the the wreath.
Reply:You don't have much of an imagination do you?
Reply:How about instead a cork Christmas village?
Reply:Can I come over and help you drink the wine. You will get a lot more corks that way.

How do i hang a wreath on my door without putting a nail through it?

How do I hang a wreath on my door without putting a nail through it?

How do i hang a wreath on my door without putting a nail through it?
at any dollar store you can find a hanger,,, it has something to slip over the door frame, and a hook for the weath
Reply:3M Command Adhesives - the plastic hooks with the double sided tape. Its pretty strong, and it only costs about $3. Walmart or Target, probably Home Depot and everywhere else this time of year.
Reply:yep, door hanger wrap it in ribbon
Reply:If your door is steel there are magnet hooks. If wood or fiberglass I have found "Command Hooks" to work on just about anything and they are available most anywhere. They have an adhesive strip on the back that removes without damaging the surface.
Reply:get a door hanger from like target or walmart or something
Reply:go to your local department, or hardware store they will have some picture hangers that will stick on your door but will not leave sticky residue upon removal after Christmas.....jack
Reply:They sell wreath hangers that clasp the top of the door, and hang down. Try, Pier One, or anyplace that sells wreathes.
Reply:Coat hanger, bend it down over the top edge %26amp; connect to the

wreath.
Reply:velcro?

if you put a nail through your door..(better for the wreath to stay on)..you can patch it up with epoxy and paint over it. no one will know the difference...also...if you get a smaller nail and hook for picture hanging...that might work too...
Reply:I hate to buy things, I try to use what is already around my house, altho door hangars are great there 6 to 7 bucks SO use a strong coat hanger, just bring ends together and bend, clip the top to the door and use the bottom part to hang wreath on.
Reply:Put a decorative ribbon through the wreath and hang it by placing a tack through the two ends of the ribbon and inserting it in the very top of the door. It should close OK.
Reply:Is the door encased in steel? If so, you may be able to tie the wreath to a strong small magnet.

Are there any windows, or other design features with trim around them, on the door? If so, you can probably drive a very small nail at a 45-degree angle right above the top of the moulding around the window, and the nail hole will be more or less invisible.

Or, maybe velcro would work somehow...if you get velcro with self-stick adhesive and stick a small piece of it onto the door, you can put the matching piece of velcro on the wreath.

How much should I expect to spend for a wreath to lay at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier?

I am taking a group of inner city Catholic 7th and 8th graders to DC for the Right to Life March. I got a letter from the Army yesterday saying we are scheduled for a wreath laying. There are no real guidelines, and I haven't been to DC since 1976.

The wreath can be natural or permanent, no size minimum or maximum. My propblem is we are on a very tight budget, we have been raising the money, because just MEAL money for some of these families will be a stretch. So I am going to ask some veterans from our parishes to sponsor the wreath for us, but I don't know 'how much' we should be spending, because I have never seen the ceremony.

Any help???

Thanks!

How much should I expect to spend for a wreath to lay at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier?
Having done this in 2004 myself, we spent $120, for the wreath. You may want to contact a flower shop and ask them if they would be interested in donating one for this very noble purpose.

You may also want to contact a local branch of the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars), The American Legion, or the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) most of these local organizations have a fund already in place. They may be willing to pay for the wreath out of those funds.
Reply:Well, Christmas just ended, just grab it off a door and it's free.
Reply:Our company laid a wreath down for a town event, which costed about $180.

How do I dry sunflowers to use in a wreath?

I am growing sunflowers and would like to use them in flower arrangements, but specifically in a wreath. How do I dry them to keep their color, shape, etc.

Last year I tryed to dry them by cutting them off the stem and setting them in a shallow box in a warm climate. They molded.

cut

hang them upside down

spray with hairspray thoroughly
Reply:You might try setting them in a desiccant such as silica to dry. It takes awhile but is least likely to cause petal loss.

For seeds I hang my sunflower heads upside down in a dry place with good airflow.

I have also heard of places that will freeze-dry flowers for you. Not sure it would be worth it unless it was a bridal bouquet or you had a group-rate. To try this at home, fill an ice chest 1/2 way with dry ice. Set one sunflower head in a metal mixing bowl large enough to contain it. Close lid and wait. I have not tested this, but think 1/2 hour might be a good place to start. After freezing spray liberally with hair spray and hang upside down in a well-ventilated area free from moisture and humidity for one week. You might need to spray metal bowl with Pam first to avoid sticking.

Here is a site that tells how to dry flowers and protect them afterwards:

Happy drying!

gg
Reply:hang them up side down from a ceiling but not in the kitchen where there is humidity . they make not keep all there brightness but they will work . don't keep them in water once picked as they will soak it all up and take longer to dry and might go mouldy .

this is the perfect weather to be drying flowers . good luck
Reply:sunlight is best
Reply:Try a food dehydrator, or a convection oven.

What should I do to care for our wreath?

My girlfriend just got a nice wreath bade from real pine. We don't know what to do to keep it nice - spray it with water? will it get moldy?

What should we do to help it last through Christmas?

What should I do to care for our wreath?
It will last longer if its kept cool. Inside the air is drier and that will cause it to lose needles faster. You can get a mist bottle, like for plants, and mist it once a day.

How do I make a wreath using freshly cut bittersweet? Must it 1st be treated with shellac? Does it need a base

When making a bittersweet wreath, must I begin by using a grapevine wreath or some other kind of sturdier base? What is the best way to preserve these natural wreaths? Where can I find craft ideas to make use of these beautiful vines? Is it legal to sell anything made with bittersweet in the state of PA, it is unlawful in NC due to the disgarding and spreading of seed from the wreaths, et al due to the damage caused to the indigenous trees they "latch" onto. What are the best websites relating to making crafts with all natural materials?

I think if you want a "rustic" look, you can just twine bittersweet vines into a circle by themselves. For a more polished look, see Martha Stewart's instructions at the link listed.

Does anyone in that section have dementia? If so, don't put anything that looks like food. Other than that, your imagination is the only limit!

How do I hang a lighted wreath on my front door?

I don't want the cord to take away from the beauty of the wreath. Also, my only electric socket is on the side of the porch opposit of the hinged part of my door. Can't figure out how to make it so we won't trip over the cord.

How do I hang a lighted wreath on my front door?
I am sure that it would look equally as nice hanging on the front of your house or a front window, or above the garage.
Reply:If you don't already have the wreath, find one that uses a battery, with the lights already on it. If you want fresh, then there are battery operated light strings that you could use. The whole cord problem is hard to get around.
Reply:Battery powered lights. Find them at any holiday decor store.

ZIP TIES

They DON'T BREAK in nasty weather, and are not metal like twist ties - which break easily.

You can pick them up cheaply at Wal Mart or Home Depot.

I use them often for outdoor crafts %26amp; other things.
Reply:get the green twist ties that florists use...any craft store should carry them...
Reply:You can use almost anything, yarn, thread, wire, string and so on, just about anything you have around the house.

Hope this helps.

Local community center, YMCAs, cooperative extension offices and community education organizations offer classes like that all the time. Snoop around your local library's entrance for flyers and pamphlets.
Reply:Look for a class on it.
Reply:Some local florists have classes on this. Or possibly your school has community enrichment classes for it. :)

What is a wreath laying at the arlington national cemetery? and why is it so important?

my school was just giving the honor of laying a wreath on a soldiers grave. what is the importance of this? why is it done? is it considered a very special experience?

Do a search on the tomb of the unknown soldier.
Reply:hey thats weird....... my schools gonna too! do you go to st. joseph too! my dc trip is next wednesday!
Reply:It is a great honor. Those men and women died fighting for your rights.
Reply:The laying of the wreath at the Tomb of The Unknowns is a very high honor. The soldiers who protect that tomb will march back and forth even in hurricane conditions, when they wouldn't have to.

I have been to the Tomb of the Unknown, and if you know the history it is a very powerful experinece.

The Tomb of the Unknowns was originally established when a soldier from WWII was found KIA but with no indentification on him, the government honored his sacrifice by having a special tomb designed in thier honor. There has been a soldier added from Korea and Vietnam as well. Although some of the bodies have now been identified and they have been given back to their families.

The quote on the tomb reads "Here lies a soldier known but to God".

You are essentially honoring their sacfrice and saying that you will not forget. They gave you the freedom in which you live today, they sacrificed so you can make the choices that you are allowed to make.

The changing of the guard is also a really moving ceremony if you listen closely to the words that are spoken.

Remember that freedom isn't free, and these men paid the price for your freedom. Maybe you should look up more info on the Tomb of the Unknowns. I think it is sad that more and more students are not learning of these parts of our nations history...maybe it's not the schools its the families. But I feel that everyone needs to know about the significance of world and American history to make sure history does not repeat itself.
Reply:its giving recognition to all the soldiers who died for our country
Reply:It's not just a soldier it is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, this tomb symbolizes every American soldier in every war who has not come home to their families. The importance of this ceremony is that we as a people will continue to remember and honor their sacrifice for our great nation, and freedoms. It is a very special experience and one that will touch you at the very center of your heart. This has to be requested very far in advance.

Here is a very nice picture essay to look though that might give you some more facts.

Reply:It is a great honor. These men and women at Arlington fought for your rights and we owe them a great deal of gratitude.
Reply:mine too! The importance of laying a wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier is that it is a high honor... you are honoring any unidentified bodies missing soldiers form wars past and soldiers who are un identifiable at the time of body recovery /death. You are honoring all the famalies that still dont know where there loved ones are and the unknown soldiers who are not honored by name it is very special and an extremley high honor
Reply:I don't know much about the actual ceremony, but it's important because you are paying respect to all of the men and women that fought for your rights.

You should consider it an honor to be involved in a ceremony like this.
Reply:I agree with all the other posters!
