If there aren't any eggs, go ahead and remove it. Otherwise just wait until the eggs hatch and the young ones have left. If the nest is disturbed , the parents will abandon it.
I have a finch nest in my wreath on my front door. How do I go about moving it? Or should I just leave it??
I,ve been told if a bird flies IN your house ~death is near~Its cute but I,d remove it..I,m not Really superstitious but I didn,t like hearing that...!
Reply:bang a nail in the siding on the house right beside the door and hang the wreath there... momma will still find it, but the babies and eggs won't be in danger from the door opening and closing too hard.... it's so interesting to watch the babies grow.... yeah, it's a mess, but you're a good egg if you let them finish growing there.....
Reply:leave it. if the nest it moved the mother will be furious and the babies or eggs will be dead. by early summer they should have left
Reply:lucky you - definately leave it till the birds have left!
Reply:I hope they haven't laid eggs in it yet. Probably if you are using the door the birds will decide they made a mistake and build elsewhere. Sometimes they start nests in the craziest places.
Reply:I would just leave it until the eggs have hatched and they are gone. If you disturb the nest, the eggs will be abandoned.
Reply:That is so sweet!
I would leave it alone.
That is just so cool!!
Did you take pix??
We had a sparrow nest in a van that we drove constantly, the mechanic found the baby birds.
It was between the radiator and the plastic front grill.
They fledged just fine.
