What kind of wreath do you put on your door when someone you love dies?

The funeral wreath is kind of like a Christmas wreath except it's made up of some dark somber leafy stuff instead of festive pine boughs and berries. If goes on the door of the person who dies, not the doors of dear friends. The purpose is to warn callers that there has been a death in the family and they should act accordingly. If you want to honor your departed dear friend, put some sort of black band or scarf around the upper sleeve of your coat or jacket.

It's not done very often these days, but usually a wreath called a funeral wreath was placed on the door, with dark greenery and black ribbon. You seldom see it these days, in America. I can't even remember the last time I saw one
