Where did the Christmas Wreath originate?

I've always wondered about this and how it became a tradition of hanging on the doors.

Where did the Christmas Wreath originate?
Christmas wreath is of Lutheran origin. It's an ever green branch with four candles. The first candle is being lit the on the Sunday four weeks before Christmas as a symbol of light. That will be introduced to world with the birth of Christ.Another candle is lit on every next Sunday. On the last Sunday before Christmas all the four candles are lit to brighten the place where the wreath is (it may be the atlas of a church or a dinner table).

The Christmas

wreath is a continuation of the Advent Wreath (German custom in Lutheran

churches) which has 4 candles, representing the 4 weeks of Advent. One

candle is lit each week. But due to the danger, they were usually placed

lying flat on tables, or hung safely parallel to the floor. This made

Christmas wreaths much more welcome because they contained no real candles and

could be hung anywhere (mostly on doors or in windows). Some people choose to

leave their wreaths up all winter.  When they do take it down, it is a sign

of winter's end and the anticipation of Spring.
Reply:Ours came from the garden center at Home Depot or Lowe's
