How d oyou make a head wreath ? what are they called?

Are you thinking a wreath of plant materials? That's a garland, or a lei in Hawaii. If you make it from long stemmed plant materials, you twist the stems around one another, adding more and continuing to twist and weave, until it holds together. You might tie it here and there with some bits of heavy thread.

I've made garlands using flowers before, and I held those together with heavy, upholstery thread. I took a big sewing needle with the thread attached, then stabbed the base of each flower to attach it to the thread. (I used gladiola blossoms). The resulting garland was beautiful, but heavy! I put the finished garlands in a plastic bag in the refrigerator to keep them fresh. You can make them head sized or neck sized.

Are you thinking of the kind that "Cesar" wore? Check with a local florist shop and they should have the floral wire/ribbon that you need. Holly may be used but is stickery. The florist shop should have other materials or be able to guide you with local plants.

Have fun.
