British Slang: Wreath?

I just saw "Notes On A Scandal," and at one point one character accuses another of sending someone a wreath. I assume this is slang for something, but I can't figure out what. Anyone know?

British Slang: Wreath?
I don't know the play but it sounds as though the intention of the phrase is to imply that the person intended to "kill" the man or woman, either literally or metaphorically. To send a wreath would normally be an action following a death, so logically, accusing a character of sending someone a wreath would seem like a threat was made.





I am British but it is not a slang phrase with which I'm familiar.
