You should try a masonry nail.
What do you use to hang large wreaths on brick houses outdoors?
I'm guessing you would get a drill bit for brick and drill a hole and install an anchor with a hook. I have the same question though. I wonder if you would caulk it so it is water-tight.
Reply:I have a brick home and in fact hung my wreath today. I pre drilled a hole into the mortor, not the brick. Then I secured a screw with a hook on the end - as I have utilized a pully system so I dont have to go up and down the ladder every year. I have a 50 ft metal cable with spring hooks on each end - Most wreaths are secured onto a metal frame - just hook it on and hoist away!
Reply:I've hung my wreath this year using fishing line. It's non visible and is very strong. Secure it to a window sill or a nail on the roof. Remember to pad any contact zones with cardboard to prevent scratching.
Secondly try, duct tape. It solves all manly problems. Duct tape a hook on the wall, then reinforce it with more duct tape. I found duct tape to work well on brick and masonary b/c of it's thick goo that can get into the cracks and crevices to get a good grip. The wreath should hide most of the duct tape.
Lastly, drill a pilot hole and then stick in the screw. I hate to do it, but it's unnoticable to potential home buyers. (Duh, like you didn't think of that)
Reply:A carefully positioned, big-@ss nail would do the job!
Reply:The best way I know is to drill a hole in the mortar, (not the brick) 3/16 or 1/4 inch and use a plastic increment of the correct size for the hole you drilled. Just the same as if you were putting it in drywall. If you have trouble drilling, get a masonry bit and use a slow speed on the drill. A little water on the bit will also help.
GOOD LUCK!
Reply:You could use a cement or something to get a nail or something on the bricks and then just hang it on the nail. Good Luck with it because i know you wouldnt want to use cement on your house and make it look horrible the rest of the year when the wreath isnt hanging.. sorry
